CLIMB IN THE BACK WINDOW - SHADOW'S SPACE - PHILADELPHIA - MAY, 2009
Climb in the back window, a group show of painted, installation and photographic works, celebrating and exploring 'post-street art' and urban culture, was hosted at Shadow's Space from May 6th – July 15th, 2009.
Climb in the back window is the link between the international street art movement of recent renown, the nearly extinct art of urban film photography, and the progression of the graffiti artist into fine art environments. Curatorially, the show was intended to create an all-sensory experience within the space. Bringing together the explosive painted-on-the-wall works of art star Anthony Lister, with the calm saturation of the color film photos of newcomer Luiza Sa, or the sweeping motion of Mark Gonzales' skateboarding performance installation captured in a film by artist Cheryl Dunn, versus the hard lines of Kofie'One's geometrical paintings. Highlighting renowned artists alongside lesser knowns, Climb in the back window came together to level the art-world playing field and inspire people in a time when excitement is needed the most.
